Implosão do Palácio Hotel adiada para 25 de janeiro de 2026
The implosion of the iconic Palace Hotel Tower, in the center of Brasília, has been postponed to January 25, 2026. The hotel, which has been abandoned since 2013, was to be demolished on December 21, but the date has been changed. The building, located in the North Hotel Sector, was purchased by a group in the hotel industry and will give way to a new venture. The implosion will be carried out by the company RVS Construções e Demolições.
The Palace Hotel Tower was idealized by Lebanese entrepreneur Jibran El-Hadj and was a symbol of comfort and elegance in the federal capital for decades. With 14 floors and 140 apartments, the building stood out for its view of the Monumental Axis and hosted authorities, diplomats, entrepreneurs, and illustrious visitors. However, after the founder’s death, the hotel lost strength and closed its activities in 2013. The building suffered invasions and depredations, becoming a point of insecurity and urban deterioration. The company responsible for the implosion made 938 structural holes and will use 165.56 kg of explosives of the Ibegel SSP type.
The implosion operation will have the support of the main public security agencies, including Civil Defense, Police, Detran, and Fire Department. As a preventive measure, the building was designed to fall with a slight inclination to the East, significantly reducing the dispersion of waste towards the Monumental Axis and avoiding the need for a total blockade of the road. On the day of the implosion, there will be a preventive evacuation of the nearest hotels, located in front and to the side of the building. Safety is a priority, and the responsible agencies are working to minimize the impacts of the implosion.
The implosion of the Palace Hotel Tower marks the end of an era for the iconic building, which was a symbol of Brasília for decades. The new venture that will replace the hotel promises to bring a new dynamic to the North Hotel Sector. The city will continue its development, and the episode of the implosion of the Palace Hotel Tower will be remembered as a milestone in the history of Brasília.
