The Labor Justice in Minas Gerais started the 10th edition of the National Week of Labor Conciliation, a campaign that aims to encourage workers and employers to seek consensual solutions in labor processes. With the theme “An agreement changes the game”, the initiative is a reference to the universe of soccer and the World Cup, and seeks to show that, just like a good agreement can change the result of a game, a well-negotiated agreement can change the course of a judicial process. The opening ceremony took place at the Judicial Center for Consensual Methods of Dispute Resolution (Cejusc) of 2nd Degree, in Belo Horizonte. The campaign is a national initiative promoted by the National Council of Justice (CNJ) and is already a national jurisdictional policy.
Advances in Labor Conciliation
Labor conciliation has advanced significantly in Minas Gerais. According to Judge José Marlon de Freitas, 1st vice-president of the TRT-MG, conciliation is no longer a target of criticism and is now a national jurisdictional policy, a source of pride for all. Judge Érica Aparecida Pires Bessa, coordinator of Cejusc of 1st Degree, stated that the expectation for this edition is positive, with approximately 500 processes scheduled only in the 1st Degree. The previous edition of the campaign recorded significant numbers, with more than R$ 244 million in agreements homologated by the TRT-MG. The National Week of Labor Conciliation is an opportunity for workers and employers to seek consensual and effective solutions for labor conflicts.
Culture of Conciliation
The culture of conciliation has been strengthened within the labor judiciary. According to Judge Andréa Rodrigues de Morais, supervisor of Cejusc of 2nd Degree, the importance of reception during conciliation hearings is fundamental to the success of negotiations. Lawyer Sara Benevides, director of the Associação Mineira da Advocacia Trabalhista (Amat), highlighted the protagonism of the parties in the construction of agreements, allowing workers and employers to participate actively in the solution of the conflict. The expectation is that these numbers will grow and that more people will be served.
The National Week of Labor Conciliation continues with a series of activities and conciliation hearings. The scenario is that the campaign will continue to grow and consolidate as an effective national jurisdictional policy. The Labor Justice in Minas Gerais expects that the initiative will help reduce the number of judicial processes and promote consensual and effective solutions for labor conflicts.
