The 21-year-old former football striker Victor Udoh was found dead in his home in Nigeria’s capital, Abuja. According to reports, Udoh had gone out with friends the previous night and was found lifeless the following morning. The cause of death has not been revealed, but there are suspicions of possible poisoning. The player had left Nigeria at the age of 19 to play for Royal Antwerp in Belgium, and later played for Southampton in England. Udoh had left Southampton in September 2025 after a mutual agreement to terminate his contract.
Udoh had a brilliant start to his career, scoring 12 goals in 27 games for Royal Antwerp. His performance at the Belgian club caught the attention of the Premier League and he was signed by Southampton in February 2025. However, he failed to stand out and reached a mutual agreement to terminate his contract in September of the same year. After leaving Southampton, Udoh played for Dínamo České Budějovice in the Czech Republic. The player was just 21 years old and had been considered one of the promises of English football.
Victor Udoh’s death was officially confirmed by Royal Antwerp, the team that launched him in Europe. In a statement, the club expressed its condolences to the player’s family, friends, and loved ones. “Our thoughts are with Victor’s family, friends, and loved ones.
