A tragic accident occurred on Saturday night (30/5) on GO-139, between the municipalities of Caldas Novas and Piracanjuba, in southern Goiás. A passenger car collided with a truck on the “curve of death”, a stretch of road known for its danger. As a result, a 58-year-old man lost his life.
During the accident, the truck driver and a companion were treated by the Mobile Emergency Service (Samu) with minor injuries. In the passenger car, the victim was removed lifeless by the rescue team. According to the Fire Department, the rescue team removed the victim from the car from the passenger side, after the car was destroyed on the driver’s side.
The stretch of the “curve of death” is considered one of the most dangerous in the region and is often associated with serious accidents. Due to a fuel leak and the location of the vehicle off the road, in an area with dry vegetation and tall grass, the State Highway Military Police opened the hood and disconnected the car’s battery to avoid sparks and the risk of fire. In addition, the team awaits the arrival of the Scientific Police to conduct an expert analysis to determine the possible causes of the accident.
