A man was arrested by the Federal Highway Police (PRF) in Ourizona, in the north-central region of Paraná, after creating a smoke screen to try to evade agents during a routine inspection on PR-552. The action occurred on Wednesday (27/5), when agents spotted a pickup truck and ordered the driver to stop, who disobeyed and started fleeing at high speed. During the pursuit, the driver activated an illegal device installed in the exhaust to create the smoke screen, but was eventually caught and arrested by the agents. After the arrest, it was discovered that the pickup truck was transporting approximately 961.8 kg of marijuana, which was seized by the PRF. The vehicle also showed signs of theft and cloned plates.
The Use of Smoke Screens
The technique used by the driver, known as smoke screen or smoke screen, is frequent among criminals, according to the PRF of Paraná. To create the dense smoke, they fill the tank with diesel and throw it into the exhaust system. This maneuver is used to try to evade police and avoid capture.
