A strong storm with hail hit the city of Boa Esperança, in the South of Minas Gerais, in the afternoon of Saturday (5/30), leaving a trail of destruction and affecting 15 homes.
Cinco people were left displaced and one homeless due to the damage. The precipitation lasted approximately 30 minutes and caused the fall of trees, poles and flooding of homes.
The road that links the municipality to Ilicínea was closed due to the fall of approximately 30 trees.
The Municipal Civil Defense and the Military Firefighters Corps of Minas Gerais (CBMMG) are working together to attend to the occurrences and ensure public safety.
Around 20 occurrences were received by the rescuers, most related to pruning and removal of vegetation that fell on streets.
Downed poles and electric wires were also targets of attendance to avoid anyone getting electrocuted. **The Civil Defense** and other authorities are isolating areas of risk, releasing roads, inspecting homes and adopting measures to ensure public safety.
According to CBMMG, five residences are in critical condition, and the residents are being instructed to avoid flooded areas and keep distance from fallen poles and wires.
The activity in the region is being carried out in partnership with the Secretary of Works and Transport and the Civil Guard.
The municipality and local authorities are working to restore normalcy in the region as quickly as possible.
The hail storm also left concern with the possibility of new occurrences, and the residents are being alerted to take precautionary measures.
CBMMG and the Civil Defense continue to work on the site to ensure public safety and minimize the damage caused by the strong storm.
