Neymar, the Santos attacker, returned to the field during a practice session of the Brazilian team at the Granja Comary, in Espírito Santo, after suffering a grade 2 injury to the calf. The player presented himself in the previous days and is scheduled to be absent for up to three weeks, meaning he will be out of the friendly matches against Panama and Egypt in May and June, and is also considered a doubt for Brazil’s debut in the World Cup, against Morocco, on June 13.
During the practice, the other players followed the technical staff’s work plan, while Neymar preferred to perform light movements and walk to avoid overloading the damaged muscles. The examination conducted by the CBF, led by Rodrigo Lasmar, showed that the injury is not serious, since the level is 2 and not 3, and Neymar was diagnosed only with the injury.
Neymar returned to participate in physical conditioning work inside the field, but without entering the game actions. The practice, held on Friday morning (29/5) showed the concern of the team not to extend the recovery.
Neymar was part of the first group of players of the Brazilian team that arrived at Granja Comary, but did not participate in the training activity and stayed in the CT’s academy gym. The number 10 of Santos performed light exercises and soft movements, which is an important step to ensure recovery.
The Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) has not yet informed about Neymar’s scheduled return, but the other players continued to work. At that moment, Santos was in the final part of the competition, serie A.
